Siena's 6 month Birthday

Our sweet puppy Siena turned 6 months old today! And how did she celebrate? Well I can tell you that she didn't celebrate earlier this week when she had a mini-seizure in her crate. Thankfully, because of a webstream camera Nate set up (that we dubbed puppycam) we saw it immediately and Nate rushed her to the vet. She's much better now... and spent her birthday playing with her new "hot dog" chew toy.

Having a puppy has been a learning experience for me! I love her so much but it's also very hard to train a puppy, particularly a stubborn little dachshund. That said, I couldn't be happier with our family, our sweet little pup who brightens every day with her funny faces, sweet kisses, and soft snuggles. I can't imagine life now without a dog in my life - they truly make every day better :)

Happy half year birthday to Siena!

Engaged!

Last night Nate surprised me by popping the question!!! Our proposal was perfect and personal. When we first moved to the city in the summer of 2010, neither of us were working yet and we were broke. We didn't have cable so we played the one board game we brought with us, Scrabble, to keep ourselves entertained. Last night on what I thought was a normal Friday, Nate suggested we play. After working all day, then cleaning, I said "no I don't feel like thinking" (how embarrassing). He said we could play "lazy Scrabble" where we don't keep score and I get to use made up words/pop culture references. I said okay and he said get the board out. I did and the tiles were glued together to spell out "Will You Marry Me" - I immediately started jumping up and down. He proposed and of course I said yes! We then called family and friends and celebrated with champagne, cheese and crackers, and cheez it (no celebration is complete without it!).

Our history together has been a long one, from our high school days of crushing on each other when we were 17 and 15, to college when we attempted long distance dating, to getting back together in 2010 and moving to New York City together. The past 3 years have been filled with incredible memories, trips, adopting our dog, and building our life together in New York City. I could not be happier or luckier to be marrying my best friend and other half, who understands me sometimes better than I understand myself, who makes me laugh and loves me on my worst days. I can't wait to start our life together! Wedding planning is going to be a blast and I'm excited to get started - luckily we are planning on a long and relaxing engagement! I can't wait to share more details as we start making our plans!
